Upma
A warm combination of roasted semolina, Urad dal (black lentils), curry leaves, green chillies and coriander.
Recommendation: Cilantro and shredded coconut!
Spice Level: Mild
Methods of Preparation
Stovetop Instructions
1.Add 7.60 fl oz (225 ml) of water in a pot
2.Add 2 tablespoons of oil / ghee (clarified butter)
3.Heat the water till it starts boiling
4.When the water starts boiling, add the powder from the foil packet to the water with continuous stirring to avoid any lumps
5.Cook on slow flame for 2 minutes
6.Cover with lid and continue heating for 30 seconds and serve hot
7. If Upma is too dry, add some water and heat further for 30 seconds or till desired consistency is achieved.

For best results, Upma should only be prepared on stovetop. Use of microwave to prepare this dish is not recommended.
